SVS and CMM sign a cooperation agreement

In order to establish mutual cooperation between the two entities for the promotion and realization of studies and activities of common interest, on September 24, the Center for Mathematical Modeling of FCFM – U. Chile signed a cooperation agreement with the Superintendencia de Valores y Seguros (SVS).

To the signing attended the Dean of our School, Francisco Brieva and the Superintendent de Valores y Seguros, Guillermo Larraín, besides the Director of CMM, Jaime San Martin and the Deputy Directorof the Center, Alejandro Jofré. On the occasion, the Superintendent expressed the satisfaction that causes them the signing of this agreement, because it allows them , among others, to have an advisory committee on mathematical and statistical issues related to financial matters.

“We want that our thoughts and actions be as close as possible to the highest standards from the academic perspective and that this has consequences in our daily work. CMM is a milestone in Chile and we are thrilled that the Center also has been willing to sign this agreement. This project has a future and we are proud that we can walk it together, “said Larraín.

Similarly, Dean Brieva shared the joy and satisfaction which means this agreement from the academic point of view. “I think the hope has come back. For many years we have been, from the University and through groups that have been carefully carved and have international presence, seeking to promote locally some of our capacity and quality through knowledge. It is not common to see this sensibility for the finer things, which I believe represents the CMM.”

The agreement embodies an effort of technical collaboration initiated by both institutions in mathematical and statistical solutions to issues related to financial matters. Moreover, the Superintendencia  will have a permanent advisory committee to develop these topics.

The work will begin with the development of the baseline for the final draft between the CMM and the SVS on “Tools for the monitoring of the Chilean financial market and the research for market abuse.”
