The Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico (National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development, Fondecyt) ratified the list of initiatives awarded in its 2017 Regular competition. Five projects of the Mathematical Modeling Center won the funds and received funding for execution within two to four years.
Universidad de Chile obtained 109 projects and Universidad de Concepción, 42.
Each research seeks to generate new knowledge or applications that contribute to the scientific and technological development of the country. They received up to 57 million pesos per year of execution. These funds are allocated to operating expenses, thesis grants and national or international collaborations, among others.
