Conference to foster the HPC community in Latin America
The Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) and the National Laboratory for High Performing Computing (Nlhpc), along with Universidad Técnico Federico de Santa María, organize the conference Carla 2014. Its goal is to provide a regional forum fostering the growth of the High Performing Computing (HPC) community on Latin America through the exchange and dissemination of new ideas, techniques and research in HPC.
The event includes several topics of interest such as parallel algorithms and architectures, graphics process units: methods, libraries and applications, data management and visualizations and software tools, grid and cloud computing, as well as distributing systems. It will feature invited talks from academy and industry.
Thus, Francisco Förster, researcher at CMM, will give the keynote speech, together with Enrique Alba (Universidad de Málaga, Spain), José Luis Gordillo (Universidad Nacional de México), Yuri Ivanov (Universidad Técnico Federico Santa María), Sergio Nesmachnow (Univeridad de la República, Uruguay), Mario Storti (Conicet and Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Argentina) and Carsten Trinitis (Technical University of Munich, Germany). The CMM will also be represented by Tomás Pérez Acle, director of the Nlphc, who is a member of the technical program committee of Carla 2014.
This conference is built on the success of the previous editions of two symposia, the High Performance Computing Latin American (Hpclatam) and the Conferencia Latinoamericana de Computación de Alto Rendimiento (Clcar), both the major HPC Latin American workshops that took place in 2014.
In the framework of this event the Third Performance Computing School-ECAR will also be held from 13th to 17th October 2014.
