Picturing Research Workshop

Since prehistoric times, people have used pictures to tell stories and explain ideas. How can scientists and engineers use pictures to tell the stories of their research to the public? Standard scientific graphics do not always succeed in helping people understand scientific, mathematical and technical ideas, how research is done, the nature of evidence, or the excitement of science.

In this hands-on workshop – led by Rosalind Reid, Executive Director of the Institute for Applied Computational Science at Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and former Editor of American Scientist magazine – we will explore ideas for using visual communication to enhance the understanding of science and engineering.
