With the arrival last Tuesday, December 7, David Woodruff, a professor at the School of Business at the University California Davis, the team of optimization and balance, consisting of Roger Wets, the same American university, and Alejandro Jofre, Researcher Associate and Deputy Director of CMM, will perform some tests on the iDataPlex Cluster to use the program Coopr, whose development is authored by U.S. researchers said.
This program can solve problems of optimization under uncertainty, specialty area of Woodruff and Watson.
David Woodruff is an industrial engineer by profession and a specialist in Stochastic Optimization and Programming, along with their peers, will work with Dr. Pierre Nancel–Penard, Laboratory of High Performance Computing (HPC) of the CMM and Claudio Troncoso, of the School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Chile, on stochastic optimization problems of electrical systems.
During his stay, which runs until Friday December 10, David Woodruff also share some of the notions developed with Jean Paul Watson, Sandia Supercomputer Center and National Laboratories in California Government, on the same program Coopr, the modeler Pysp Pyomo and bookstore.
