Biomedical Image Analysis in the CMM

With the collaboration of the Laboratory of Modeling in Scientific Images and Visualization (MOTIV), of the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM), was carried out  the seminar on Images Analysis and Curves “Mean pattern estimation in deformable models for curve and image analysis” by Jérémie Bigot, the last Friday 4 June at 17:30 hrs. in the Seminar Room of the CMM.

The conference on “Geometric characterization of curves and images” has an area of comparative application in biomedical imaging. The goal is to understand how the shape of the curves or images change, for example with time and in different patients, and how in turn allows the mathematical modeling to understand why such changes.

This conference was the result of a joint project with the Laboratory of Modeling in Scientific Images and Visualization (MOTIV), of the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM), which reported this type of variation and allowed the joint work  with Jérémie Bigot, the Professor Raúl Gouet of Centre for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) and Alfredo López PhD student, of the Department of Mathematical Engineering, who is working on his joint thesis on mathematical models to analyze biomedical images, in the CMM and the University of Toulouse,France. The future Doctor is cooperating with this project through the experience gained in Austria with a similar work lasted two years. This research could be extended to the study of other types of images, such as those which are developed in laboratories of astronomical images.

The speaker of the seminar, Jérémié Bigot is a PhD. in Applied Mathematics od the Department of Statistics in the Laboratory of modeling and calculation of the University of Grenoble, France and a associate researcher of the CMM, through the National Center for Scientific Research of France (CNRS), who ends his stay at CMM on December 5, to return to the University of Toulouse, where he works as an assistant professor.
