Five postdocs of the Center for Mathematical Modeling were recently awarded Postdoctoral Grants from the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (Fondecyt in Spanish).
The fund approved a total of 302 postdoctoral projects. Universidad de Chile led the list with 80 projects. While, the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences got 26 grants, leading the rank at the university.
In Mathematics, eighteen PhD from different institutions were granted. Five of them are CMM members.
The Postdoctoral Grants awarded from Universidad de Chile are Lisa Darragh, Guillermo Cabrera, Gino Montecinos and Nga Nguyen. Alexander Frank, from Universidad Nacional Andrés Bello is also a beneficiary.
The fund supports young PhDs recently graduated in Chile or abroad to actively participate in consolidated research groups. For a period of up to two years these postdocs will be exclusively dedicated to their projects, which must be executed in Chile.
