To promote scientific productivity and leadership amongst young researchers the Superior Council for Science and Technological Development at FONDECYT(1) delivered the results form the Postdoctorate Competition 2010. Amongst the awarded projects, nine have been granted to PhDs from the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (FCFM) from Universidad de Chile, five of which belong to the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM).
Scientific Leadership
Out of the 80 granted projects awarded– over 1.570 million pesos for the first year – to young professionals sponsored by universities and excellence research centers nationwide, 23 are researchers from Universidad de Chile, leading accomplishments for 28,2% of all projects awarded in the country.
From the 23 initiatives set forth by Universidad de Chile, four correspond to Post-Docs from the Center of Mathematical Modeling (CMM). The beneficiaries are: Jean-François Jabir, Yong Liu, Qiuping Lu, José Aliste and Muslim Malik.
The funds' main objective supports young PhDs, recently graduated in Chile or abroad to actively participate in consolidated research groups. For a period of up to two years these Post-Docs will be exclusively dedicated to their projects which will be executed in Chile.
