CMM researchers acknowledged by Universidad de Chile

Framed in the celebration of its 174th anniversary, Universidad de Chile recognized the work of 11 researchers from the Center for Mathematical Modeling in teaching and research.

During the first day of festivities, president Ennio Vivaldi gave Best Professor award to 39 lecturers from different faculties. The Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (FCFM) distinguished CMM researcher Iván Rapaport and other four scholars as the best.

Next day, the university awarded CMM mathematicians for their contribution to research.

Carlos Conca received a diploma because of the Tatoe portable ultrasound. The device is an example of transferred to society innovations.

Another group of researchers was awarded because of their publications in prestigious ISI journals. Juan Diego Dávila, Manuel del Pino, Patricio Felmer, Alejandro Jofré, Michal Kowalczyk, Alejandro Maass, Áxel Osses, Héctor Ramírez, and Daniel Remenik were honored.

“We are fighting for the entire nation and so many academics here are an example of this,” said Vivaldi at the end of the ceremony that acknowledged most outstanding scholars in scientific research and artistic creation.
