Exacta Festival of Education, Theatre and Mathematics successfully closed its last version, which included talks on Mathematics subjects, theatrical plays and workshops for teachers, students and general public.
This event was organized by Centro de Estudios Tecya and sponsored by Universidad de Chile Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM), which estimated that their activities were seen by around two thousand people.
The main activity of this version was the talk of mathematical comedian Fernando Rodríguez, master in Mathematics at Universidad de La Habana. He entertained around 600 students who saw his mathematical comedy routine in Gorbea Auditorium, at Facultad de Ciencias Físicas y Matemáticas of Universidad de Chile.
“Mathematicians know that mathematics is fun. The issue is people can’t see the funny and exciting side. That’s the way to do comedy with mathematics. Showing the people that this is funny and attractive”, said Rodríguez.
Also, CEC Theatre Company performed in different universities the mathematical play “Juegos Matemáticos”, with great success into the audience.
Exacta Festival ended with a workshop for teachers, which showed different theatrical models to improve the math teaching and learning in classrooms.
In the next weeks, Exacta will move its activities to schools, that include new theatrical plays for students and workshops for teachers.
