Heads of Université Côte d´Azur visit CMM, Universidad de Chile and INRIA-Chile

The Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) of Universidad de Chile hosted the visit of Jean Marc Gambaudo, director of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS, because of its acronym in French) and Jean Christophe Martin, vice-chairman of International Relations at Université Nice Sophia Antipolis.

Through several meetings, the Universidad de Chile was invited to participate in the project Université Cote d’Azur (UCA), a research initiative aimed to enhance technical and scientific problems solve social problems with the society in the region of Cote d´Azur, located in the South of France.

“The relation between the CNRS, INRIA and Univeriste de Nice with CMM is the starting point to extend the cooperation of the Université Cote d´Azur with the whole Universidad de Chile”, pointed out the CMM researcher Servet Martínez who accompanied the French Delegation during all the events.

The project carries out interdisciplinary works based on different topics. It integrates all the research institutions of the region: Université de Nice, the CNRS, the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA), the Centre hospitalier universitaire (CHU), and Schools and Initiatives of arts.

Gambaudo and Martin met on 29th January of 2015 with the rector Ennio Vivaldi and director of International Relations of the Universidad de Chile Pía Lombardo, from Universidad de Chile, as well as Claude Puech, executive director of Inria in Chile. Next day, they talked to Flavio Salazar, Vice- Rector for Research and Development of the university and other directors and academics of our university.

The Universidad de Chile showed a great interest in joining this initiative, which adds to the cooperation that already exists with France.
