Prof. Amaya is new associated editor of influential Spanish journal

The researcher of Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) Jorge Amaya was named associated editor at Top, the official scientific journal edited by Spanish Society of Statistics and Operations Research -since 1950s- and distributed by the German publisher Springer Verlag.

The journal publishes original findings in operations research and management sciences, where mathematical issues or applications serve to decision-making in business.

The topics covered are continuous and discrete optimization, games, decision theory, logistics, production planning, stochastic models, simulation, as well as their applications.

“Operations research is a main field in applied Mathematics and CMM is working that lines since the foundation of the center. In that way, this new position also recognizes to this research center and its impact in Latin America”, said Amaya, director of CMM’s Logistics and Production Lab.

Among the tasks of the new associated editor, he must search high level articles by Latin-American and Chilean researchers, aimed to open the journal to different contents. “We hope that he will be able to encourage his co-workers and colleagues from outside your department to submit high-quality papers”, explained Springer’s associated editor Veronika Rosteck.

Amaya was named for an initial period of two years.

“It is one of the spanish journal with major impact and we, at CMM and Mathematics Engineer Department, have enhanced our relation with Spain since many years”, concluded researcher.
