In the new version of the Regular Contest 2010 of the Fondecyt Program, the Universidad de Chile was the institution that obtained the major assigned resources. The 86 awarded projects will receive 10 thousand 327 million Chilean pesos.
The National Fund of the Scientific and Technological Development (Fondo Nacional del Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico, Fondecyt) from CONICYT is an initiative destined to stimulate and promote the development of the scientific basic research in the country.
To this contest there were presented 56 projects in mathematics and 32 were approved. Three of them belong to the researchers associated to the CMM: Martin Matamala, Fethi Mahmoudi and Michael Schraudner.
Also, Jaime Ortega of the DIM-CMM is co-investigative in the offer awarded to Andrés Couve of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de Chile. In addition, the academician of the DIM, Prof. Roberto Cominetti, also obtained a Fondecyt project.
