Between June 27 and July 3, the president and CEO of Swetree Technologies, MatsJohnson, visited Chile accompanied by the Vice President of BusinessDevelopment and Marketing of the company, Leif Lyckebäck and researcher, LarsChristersson.
The organizer of this visit was Dr. Paul Sepúlveda, researcherat the Center for Mathematical Modeling FCFM – U. of Chile. According to Dr.Sepúlveda the Swedish company is considered one of the largest in the world inplant biotechnology and is part of the clean tech companies.
“It'sa privilege to have the visit of Swetree in Chile and one of its advisers,Lars Christersson, known as the father of the concept of biomass and species ofrapid growth,” says Sepúlveda.
During their stay, the executives met with entrepreneurs of the forestarea from Punta Arenas and Concepción,authorities of University of Magallanes and University of Chile, andsome members of CORFO, Codelco and the Center for Mathematical Modeling.
“Swetree come to Chile with the aim of cooperating with Codelco inphytoremediation projects, introducing clones of willow and poplar, andparticipate in a pilot project in the country in biomass, and toprove their amino acid fertilizer,” concluded the researcher.
