The second “Chile-Japan Workshop on Nonlinear Elliptic and Parabolic PDEs” that was carried out in the University of Meiji, relied on the assistance of important researchers and also students, who shaped a group of more than 80 participants; number considered by the organizing committee as “highly successful.”
Besides, Manuel del Pino from DIM-CMM and one of the principal organizers stand out the high quality of the presentations. “For the Japanese side, there were stood out the talks of some of the highest exponents of the Japanese School of Systems of Reaction – Diffusion, that has inspired the elliptical parabolic world worldwide for many years.”
About the daily routine of the Chilean mathematicians in this area, del Pino shared a commentary that a professor of the University of Tokyo did during this meeting. ” Hiroshi Matano reminded about the tragedy of the tsunami, originated from the 1960 earthquake here in Chile and known in Japan as the 'Tsunami of Chile', generated great scientific knowledge on these phenomena, and that perform great importance for it prediction until today.
